Seamanship

Seamanship is a fundamental and essential aspect of our curriculum at Peninsula High School's NNDCC/NJROTC program, designed to impart cadets with the practical knowledge and skills necessary to navigate and operate effectively at sea. Through hands-on training and classroom instruction, cadets learn the art of seamanship, including knot tying, line handling, boat handling, and basic shipboard procedures. They gain a deep understanding of safety protocols, teamwork, and effective communication required for successful maritime operations. Seamanship training also instills in cadets a profound respect for the sea and the importance of environmental stewardship. By honing their seamanship skills, our cadets become adept mariners, well-prepared for potential careers in the Navy or other maritime professions, and equipped with valuable life skills that promote adaptability, resourcefulness, and discipline.
