Our mission is to empower students with the essential qualities and skills that will shape their futures and make a positive impact on society.

Who We Are

The NNDCC/NJROTC Program at Peninsula High School is an integral component of the Career and Life Readiness programs offered by the Peninsula School District (PSD). Our primary focus is on nurturing essential qualities and skills in students that will benefit them throughout their lives. Through this program, students are exposed to valuable lessons in citizenship, leadership, fostering a sense of belonging, cultivating a sense of accomplishment, and finding a sense of direction.

Located at Peninsula High School, the NNDCC/NJROTC program is available to all high school students ages 14 and older throughout the district. The NNDCC program structure provides the same curriculum, training and competition opportunities for students as the Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (NJROTC) program.

The NNDCC/NJROTC Program at Peninsula High School empowers students with vital life skills and values, preparing them for a successful future as responsible citizens and leaders. Its comprehensive approach to education, focusing on citizenship, leadership, belonging, accomplishment, and direction, combined with its wide-ranging opportunities for recognition and community engagement, sets a strong foundation for the personal and academic growth of participating students.

Our curriculum encompasses essential teachings that instill valuable attributes in our students:

Citizenship

We emphasize the significance of being responsible and engaged members of society, encouraging active participation in community affairs and promoting good citizenship.

Leadership

Through various activities and exercises, we foster the development of leadership skills, empowering students to take charge and inspire others around them.

Sense of Belonging

We cultivate a welcoming and inclusive environment, helping students feel a strong sense of connection and belonging within their school and broader community.

Sense of Accomplishment

By setting attainable goals and celebrating achievements, we nurture a sense of pride and fulfillment in our students' endeavors, building their confidence along the way.

Sense of Direction

We provide guidance and support to help students discover their passions and chart a clear path for their future, equipping them with the tools they need to make informed decisions and pursue their aspirations.

How we are different.

Beyond the school environment, community service is highly encouraged within the NNDCC/NJROTC Program. Students actively participate in community-oriented projects and initiatives, emphasizing the importance of giving back to society. This aspect of the program not only enriches the community but also helps students understand the value of empathy, compassion, and social responsibility.
